CSS Clamp Generator

Map a fluid size between two viewport bounds with readable CSS.

A LITTLE MORE FLUID

Between two sizes.

◌ Stays on your device. Inputs are processed in this browser and are not uploaded.

All units are px. Sizes may be equal, but viewport widths must increase. Review browser zoom and text accessibility in your actual layout.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use it

  1. Choose minimum and maximum sizes.
  2. Set the viewport widths for those endpoint sizes.
  3. Inspect the live preview and copy the CSS expression.

A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

A fluid font size can move from 16 px at a 320 px viewport to 24 px at a 1,280 px viewport.

Know the limits

Viewport bounds must be ordered and units must be explicit. Test text resizing and accessibility in the final layout.

A good question

Does clamp() replace responsive layout testing?

No. It constrains a value; text wrapping, zoom, and the surrounding layout still need testing.
