Image DPI Converter

Understand print resolution and adjust supported image DPI metadata.

A LITTLE IMAGE HOUSEKEEPING

Set the print density.

◌ Stays on your device. Inputs are processed in this browser and are not uploaded.

Changes metadata only; no resampling or added pixels. JPEG EXIF/XMP/IPTC/comments are replaced or removed; orientation is preserved. PNG eXIf is removed, other chunks are retained. This is not a privacy scrubber. Pixels are not re-encoded; preserve your original metadata separately.

10 MiB · 25 megapixels · 10,000 px per side. Animated PNG, SVG, HEIC, GIF, WebP and multi-picture JPEG are unsupported.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use it

  1. Choose a supported JPEG or PNG image.
  2. Set the target DPI and review the implied print dimensions.
  3. Export and verify the metadata in your intended print workflow.

A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

A 3,000-pixel-wide image at 300 DPI implies a print width of 10 inches.

Know the limits

JPEG/PNG only, 10 MiB and 25 megapixels. DPI metadata changes do not resample pixels. JPEG EXIF/XMP/IPTC/comments are replaced or removed while orientation is retained; PNG eXIf is removed. Oriented PNG EXIF must be normalized first.

A good question

Does increasing DPI make an image sharper?

No. Metadata describes the intended pixel density; resampling is a separate image operation.
